| 17th February, half term and a quick morning trip up Airedale turned into an extended chase around the Dales, yet again the journey back for a meal was delayed by a train on the Grassington branch!
After a brief call at Shipley we headed for Hellifield where three varieties of 66s put in an appearance. The southbound Freightliner Heavy Haul was checked at Hellifield and must have been held as it followed us through Skipton as it carried on towards the Aire Valley power stations. An EWS empty coal train that had been waiting at Skipton then headed north, so we couldn't just ignore it could we... Then, just as were about to head back, another 66 appeared on an empty rake of hoppers bound for Rylstone quarry - well what would you do...? |
