| Over the August Bank Holiday weekend 8P 4-6-2 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' was seen at Scout Green on the climb to Shap, putting up an impressive performance.
The journey back went via the Settle Carlisle, but sadly the wonderul lighting at Ribblehead did not coincide with a train. After ringing ahead to say we would be back shortly, we saw an empty train bound for Swinden Quarry stood at signals near Cononley. A quick change of plans and we popped in to Skipton and then followed the train up the Grassington branch in ever improving weather. Sunday morning was a return trip to Skipton to see 45407 with a working from Leeds to Carlisle. |
