The Summer Saturday extras to Great Yarmouth are now in full swing, with top and tailed class 47s reported on several occasions, needless to say not on the weekends I went hunting them! Two events stand out as the highlights of the month. The first was the annual Greene King charter to Yarmouth, with 86235 dusted off and put out to assist 47810 'Porterbrook'. 47810 then went and failed at Yarmouth and turned 47828 into a class 153 (see the captions for more information). The Lowestoft Air Show means top and tailed 47s on the Lowestoft line. Thursday was very gloomy, preventing many of the aircraft from flying, but an indifferent forecast for Friday was well wide of the mark and the price of some cracking shots was sunburn due to not wearing a hat. 'Cam Peak' at Haddiscoe was well worth it, everyone else had given up and gone home! Elsewhere the EWS class 90s continue to keep 'one' out of the mire and the Sizewell flask train finally put in appearance for the camera. Woodefordes brewery is positioned equidistantly from the Cromer and Acle lines, it is quite easy to drop in every time you pass on the way from one line to the other; this is a particular help when the 47s fail, don't turn up, turn into 153s (twice), sneak past early when you have stopped at the pub at Reedham Ferry for an ice cream (that's all, honest)... I still don't know why I drive up and down the A140 in the pursuit of all this... |
