A few photographs taken while passing through Yorkshire on the first weekend of September.

Ribblehead viaduct seemed very quiet, a long wait produced only a 4 car 158 north over the viaduct.

Driving down the valley the reason was found at Horton in Ribblesdale. 60092 was sat on the bridge where the road passes under the line just north of the station, it had failed with a loaded gypsum train over 3 hours previously and was waiting for assistance to be sent from Carlisle. As we waited a series of detonators exploded as 66185 slowly ran wrong line onto the front of the failed train.

After some delay, including waiting for a northbound service to run past on the up line, 66185 put it's shoulder to the grade and slowly began to lift the dead tug and it's train up the hill towards Ribblehead.

The main reason for stopping in the area followed, 8F 48151 making a fine display on a northbound special.

Finally a few shots at Haworth. I had hoped to see the WD 2-8-0 but it was safely tucked up in the shed, however the chug-chug of a Sulzer type 2 brought back pleasant memories of freight trains around this area 25 years or more ago.
