| A spate of blue locomotives around Ipswich during the first few months of 2007.
The twice weekly visit of DRS 20s on the Sizewell flasks was surpassed on 10th March with 5 DRS locos in and around Ipswich, 3x20s on the 20/20 Vision railtour to Leiston, with 47501 dropping on to the other end of the train at Ipswich. Coincidentally 66419 was on hire to Freightliner while they awaited to the arrival of the next batch of 66s. Two class 60s made it down the Felixstowe branch during these months, a relatively rare occurrence, and you had to be up early on a cold Saturday morning to see the first one! NENTA railtours no longer have the opportunity of using Fragonset locomotives since the company folded, so a different group of 47s are making an appearance. the pair of green locos have so far slipped past the camera but 47853 'Rail Express', the XP64 locomotive, made a first appearance in May. Last, but not least, Freightliner's aging 86s still made daily appearances at Ipswich, particularly on the Coatbridge train which is almost guaranteed to bring these venerable beasts into the area. |
